Ruby Maass Kettler of Brenham, Texas, widow of James Kettler, passed away September 4, 2016 at her home in Sandy Hill.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, with Pastor Kyle Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Ruby was born September 17, 1932 in Burton, Texas, to Henry and Mathilda Drews Maass. She was baptized and confirmed at United Church of Christ in Burton.
Ruby attended Washington County schools. On November 8, 1953, she was married to James Henry Kettler at St. John's Evangelical Church in Burton. James preceded her in death on December 31, 2001.
Ruby and James spent many years as dairy and beef cattle farmers. She had many close neighbors and church friends and enjoyed activities such as visiting, quilting, Share and Rebecca Circle. Working in the yard was her therapy and she loved taking care of her flowers, birds, and garden. For the last several years, her great-grandchildren were the pride of her life.
Ruby is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Sue and David Dreyer; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Wayne and Cindy Kettler; grandchildren: Kevin and Alison Dreyer, Justin Dreyer and friend, Sara; Stephanie and Richard Ingram, Ryan and Kaylee Kettler, Chelsea and J. T. Gaskamp; great-grandchildren: Emery, Everett, Easton and Shelby Ingram, Lane Dreyer, Gage Gaskamp; sister, Ora Lee Gregor and husband Luther; sister-in-law, Nancy Maass; brother-in-law, Harold Eikenhorst, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brother, Henry Maass, Jr.; sisters-in-law Viola Brauner and Clara Joyce Eikenhorst, and brother-in-law, Lonnie Brauner.
Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Dreyer, Justin Dreyer, Richard Ingram, Ryan Kettler, J. T. Gaskamp, Chris Maass, and Tadd Maass.
Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
