Ruby Kruger

June 21, 1928 — December 24, 2016

Ruby Lee Adler Kruger, 89, passed away Christmas Eve of 2016 in Bryan. Her family was by her side.

Funeral services for Ruby will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Ruby Lee Kruger was born June 21, 1928 in the Pleasant Hill Community of Austin County to Herbert and Emma (Rosenbaum) Adler. Baptized in 1928 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, she was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, and continued membership there until her death. She was a graduate of Brenham High School. On February 28, 1947, she was married to Leroy Kruger at Grace Lutheran Church by Rev. T. H. Graalmann.

Ruby was employed at Brenham Broom and Mop for 31 years, and then worked for Green Grain Co. until her retirement.

Ruby's caring and compassionate nature, keen sense of humor, and spirited personality endeared her to family and friends. An excellent cook, her first response to visitors was to offer them something to eat or drink. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as "Mo-Mo".

Devoted to caring for her family, Ruby was a caregiver to her father-in-law, her mother and father, and lastly, her husband, Leroy. She gave selflessly of herself to others throughout her lifetime. Her generosity and love for others is a life-lesson for her family, and her death has left a void no one can ever fill. Our hearts are broken over the loss of this special woman.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Sherry Kruger of Brenham; grandchildren: Chad Kruger (Rhonda) of Eva, Alabama, and Kellan Kruger (Elizabeth) of Colorado Springs, CO.; step-grandchildren: Kristy Veith (Brett) of Magnolia, and Bradley Winters (Kim) of Danville, Alabama; great-grandchildren: Anneliese and Brennam Kruger; step-great-grandchildren: Blake and Hunter Hallman, Brodie and Emma Grace Winters, Weston Krolczyk, and Cody, Victoria, and Brielynn Veith; sister-in-law, Evelyn Ruth Juergens, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Weldon and Patti Kruger, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Also surviving are dear friends Clara Gurka, Teresa and Belmiro Medeiros, and Carol Kruger.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; parents, Herbert and Emma Rosenbaum Adler; sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Barney Luthe; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Josephine Kruger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law O.W. and Alvira Kruger, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Juergens.

Serving as pallbearers are Keith Smith, Chris Juergens, Mark Buck, Otis Adler, Jr., Paul Prazak, and Belmiro Medeiros.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
