Ruby Mclain

Ruby Kolwes McLain, 96, widow of Floyd S. McLain, passed away December 17, 2010 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2010 in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem, with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Ruby was born August 12, 1914 in the Salem Community of Washington to August and Louise Nordt Kolwes. She was baptized October 25, 1914 in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem by Pastor J. Mgebroff, and later confirmed there by Pastor William Utesch. On September 13, 1947, she was married to Floyd S. McLain in Chappell Hill by Mr. Virgil Wells. She remained a member of Salem Lutheran Church throughout her lifetime. Ruby was employed as a clerk at The Record Palace in Brenham for many years. Survivors include a sister Louise M. DeVault, numerous nieces and nephews, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. Her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Schulte, Mark Schulte, Russell Schulte, Boyd Holmes, David Schultz, Jay DeVault, and Darrell Kolwes. Honorary pallbearers will be her great- nieces and great-nephews. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem.
