Rufus Lange, Sr.

Rufus Lange, Sr., 89, of Brenham, widower of Annie Lange, died Saturday, October 13 in Trinity Care Center. Mr. Lange was born January 26, 1918 to Paul and Hedwig Reimer Lange in Washington County. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. On October 2, 1941, he married Annie Koehne, and together they farmed side by side, raising cotton and corn. He was employed by Santa Fe Railroad from March, 1946 to March of 1982. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, always sharing his vegetables with family and friends. He was also an avid fisherman for as long as he was able. He is survived by his son, Rufus Lange, Jr., and wife Gladys; a daughter, Pearlie Rosner; grandchildren: Greg Rosner and wife Joyce; Lisa Rosner Heugatter; Teresa Lange Moudry and husband Mike; great-grandchildren Christine Rosner, and Mikey, Tara, and Chandler Moudry, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Lange was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Annie Lange; a sister, Adeline Mantey and husband Tony; son-in-law, Joseph Rosner, and eight brothers-in-law and eight sisters-in-law. Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, October 15 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services for Rufus Lange, Sr., will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gay Hill. Serving as pallbearers are Greg Rosner, Mike Moudry, Tom Bentke, Waldo Nienstedt, Herbert Mantey, and Melvin Gaskamp. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or to the Gay Hill Cemetery Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Benham.
