Russel Kilgore

Russel Elmer Kilgore, 90, of Brenham, died Dec. 28, 2003, in Diagnostic Hospital in Houston. Mr. Kilgore was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Coalmont, Tennessee, to Samuel and Lucy Kilgore. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. On Dec. 24, 1936, he married Ruby Pearl Justice in Checatah, Oklahoma. He was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Pearl Kilgore of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Lary M. and Maudine Kilgore of Gallup, New Mexico; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dale Walker of Brenham; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Don Russel Kilgore; two brothers; and three sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in Brenham Church of Christ with Bob Grigg officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Memorials may be given to Brenham Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
