Ruth Elizabeth Hobbs, 75, of Brenham, died April 15, 2007 in St. Joseph s Regional Hospital in Bryan. Mrs. Hobbs was born in Gay Hill in Washington County on October 4, 1931, to Ed and Martha Dietzmann Muery. She was baptized on January 16, 1932 at St. Peter s Lutheran Church in Gay Hill, and confirmed June 9, 1946 at the Messenger of First Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mrs. Hobbs attended Corpus Christi public schools and later graduated from Texas Lutheran College. She received a master s degree from Radford College. In 2004, she retired from the Texas Engineering Experiment Station. On October 4, 1952, she married Leslie Hobbs in Brenham, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2005. Survivors include a son, Dane Hobbs of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law: Becki and James Schawe of Somerville and Dianne and Robert Smith of Brenham; grandchildren: Cathy Boeker and husband Trey of Brenham; David Schawe of Somerville; Brian Smith and fiancée Kristyn Herzog, and Katie Smith of Brenham; a great-grandchild, Clay Boeker of Brenham; and a sister-in-law, Neatha Muery of Brenham. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leslie Hobbs, and her brother, Warren Muery. The funeral for Ruth Elizabeth Hobbs will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are David Schawe, Brian Smith, Trey Boeker, Harper Muery, Jimmy Smith and Roy Kelm. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, April 17 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Memorials may be given to St. Peter s Lutheran Church cemetery fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
