Ruth D. Roberts, 85, of Brenham, died June 28, 2003, in St. Joseph Health Care Center in Bryan. Mrs. Roberts was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Asherton, TX, to Franklin and Ada Evans Dietz. She was educated at Reagan High School in Houston. On June 14, 1941, she was married to Austin W. Roberts in The Woodlands Baptist Church in Houston. For 32 years, she and her husband were in the accounting and tax business. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham since 1986. She was a courageous and gentle lady and a loving wife and mother. She made the best coleslaw and bread and butter pickles in the world. Mrs. Roberts was an associate member of Former Students of Texas A&M. Survivors include her husband, Austin W. Roberts of Brenham; and daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Leigh Benson of McKinleyville, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2 in Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham with Rev. Larry Embry officiating. The graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in Brookside Memorial Park in Houston. The family will receive friends and relatives at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, send a memorial to Calvary Baptist Church or Texas A&M Development Foundation or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
