Ruth Tootsie Marth Etzel Schneider, 77, of Carmine, died July 20, 2007, in a Tomball hospital. Mrs. Schneider was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Carmine, Texas, to Reinhard J. and Anita Oberrender Marth. On April 20, 1930, she was baptized in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine by Pastor Henry Brunotte, and on Feb. 7, 1944, she was confirmed in the same church by the same pastor. She attended Carmine School and was a 1947 graduate of Round Top-Carmine High School. On Jan. 18, 1948, she was married to Floyd Etzel in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Mr. Etzel preceded her in death in 1961. On March 3, 1974, she was married to Harvey Lee Schneider in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. Mr. Schneider preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Schneider was a retired employee of Carmine State Bank and Jacob s Store. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Carmine Chamber of Commerce, Carmine Fire Department, Round Top Sons of Hermann, Round Top-Carmine Parents Club and Round Top-Carmine Booster Club. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd Wayne and Cheryl Etzel of Carmine and Berrie Lynn and Darlene Etzel of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Faye and Stuart Markwardt of Carmine; seven grandchildren, Mitchel Etzel and wife Ronda, and RaChelle Etzel and special friend Cody Wagner; Courtney and Brandon Goeke ;Clint Etzel and fiancé Michelle Rabb ; Shelley Scheffer and husband Brian; Shayne Markwardt and special friend Bryan Kirts and Shelby Markwardt; great-grandchildren Ella Marie, Ava Louise, and Emma Diane Goeke; and Ariel Huether and Sydney Grace Etzel; three brothers and sisters-in-law, R.J. and Anna Dell Marth of Houston, W.T. and Dorothy Marth of Carmine and Ralph Marth of Carmine; sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ella and Jack Littlejohn of Brenham; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Corine and Cordell Levien of Round Top, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhard and Anita Marth; her daughter, Diane Marie Etzel in 1976; her granddaughter, Shawndra Markwardt in 1980; brother-in-law, Travis Etzel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Helga Etzel, and sister-in-law, Elsa Marth. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with Pastor Paul Bohot officiating. Burial will be in Carmine Cemetery in Carmine. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and granddaughters. Memorials may be given to Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine.
