Ruth Schulte

Ruth Virginia (Hinze) Schulte, 88, of Brenham passed away on February 20, 2025. She was born on August 5, 1936 to Herbert C. Hinze and Almeida Rosenbaum Hinze in Kenney, Texas. She was baptized as an infant, confirmed in 1950 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome. She was married June 26, 1955 to Edward James Schulte at her parents’ home. In 1969 she was baptized into the Baptist faith at First Baptist Church in Brenham. In 1995, they joined Fellowship Baptist Church also in Brenham where Pastor Darren Donaldson is their current pastor. Ruth was a greeter and member of their ministerial committee. They were blessed with three children Kevin, Debbie and Cindy.

Ruth was an amazing homemaker, she had a green thumb and loved baking and canning. Her family’s favorites were her pickles, ketchup and green beans. The family states “Best Pickles ever! Just Saying.” She enjoyed visiting her friends and playing cards and dominoes and in her younger years she loved dancing. Her most cherished times were spent with her grandkids. She loved flowers and balloons and any reason to have a party and be with the ones she loved. She passed this quality on to her grandchildren. 

Ruth is survived by her husband of 69 years, daughters and sons-in-law; Debbie and Roger Gaskamp, Cindy and Glenn Flentge all of Brenham and son and daughter-in- law; Kevin and Beverly Schulte of Dickinson, TX. Sister; May Dell Kuhlmann of Brenham. Grandchildren, who lovingly called her MeMe; Brent Gaskamp and wife, Carissa, Leticia Gaskamp, Shelia Lee and husband, Daniel, Craig Flentge and wife, Tugi, Brad Flentge and step-grandson, Robert Kimbel. Great-grandchildren, Christin, Robin and Alyssa Lee and Isla Flentge. Nieces and nephews, Kenneth Gall and wife, Mary and Keith Kuhlmann and wife, Tricia and numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy “Mippie” and Floyd Hahn, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ruth and Lawrence Gall, Dorothy and Melvin Bentke, Harold Kuhlmann, Philip and Verlene Schulte.

Pallbearers will be Brent Gaskamp, Craig Flentge, Brad Flentge, Keith Kuhlmann, John Naumann and Russell Bentke. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shelia and Daniel Lee, Leticia Gaskamp, Carissa Gaskamp, Tugi Flentge  and Kenneth Gall.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenham Nursing and Rehab, Amedisys Hospice and Baylor Scott and White in College Station.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Darren Donaldson. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
