Funeral services for Ruth Wiese Thomas, 87, widow of Clyde Thomas, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastors Phil Fenton and Brianna Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Ruth passed away December 15, 2016 at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham.
Ruth Thomas was born April 13, 1929 in Washington, Texas, the daughter of Carl and Henrietta Krueger Wiese. She was baptized May 19, 1929 at Friedens Church of Washington, by Rev. Alvin A. Blome, and confirmed April 2, 1944 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham by Rev. Theo R. Streng.
Ruth was an honor graduate of Brenham High School and Blinn Junior College. She was married to Clyde W. Thomas on January 9, 1954 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. Theo R. Streng. Ruth was employed for many years by the Texas Dept. of Human Resources.
She remained a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran until her death, and served her church as a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Church Council and usher corps.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Debbie Thomas; granddaughter, Linda Dale Tosta and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren: Haylie Lynn, Logun Richard, and Braden Scot Tosta; Kimberley Wage Lewis and husband, David; Alex and Aireal Lewis, and Kori Wage; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Joyce Thomas, , as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Clyde Thomas; her parents; and a sister, Nancy Claire Wiese.
Serving as pallbearers are friends and relatives of Ruth's family.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Christian Day School.
