Ruth Lehmann Wehmeyer, widow of Edgar Wehmeyer, passed away June 23, 2012 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, with Pastor David Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Born August 1, 1926 in Brenham to John H. and Minnie Spitzer Lehmann, Ruth was baptized January 1, 1927 in St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham by Pastor Arthur Hartmann. She was confirmed in April of 1941 by Pastor Paul Goglin in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Ruth was married to Edgar Wehmeyer in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill on March 27, 1947, by Pastor W. C. Poehlmann. Ruth was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone as a telephone operator for 29 years. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Pieper, and a son, Darrell Wehmeyer; grandchildren: Jenny Wehmeyer Schaer and husband John Schaer III, Mindy Wehmeyer Merten and husband, Kyle; Sean Pieper and wife Sheila, Laura Pieper; great-grandchildren include Jackson Dylan Pieper, twins Audrey Elise Schaer and John Bo Schaer IV, and Barrett Scott Merten. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Ann Lehmann, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edgar; brother and sister-in-law Walter Edna Lehmann; sisters and brothers-in-law Hildegarde R.H., Sr. Wieghat, Evelyn Harry Reue, and Esther Herzog; brother, Edmund Lehmann, infant brothers, Gus and John; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alvin Ella Wehmeyer, Harold Willie Mae Wehmeyer, Paul, Jr Eileen Wehmeyer, Delmus Wehmeyer, and Lillian John Folschinsky. Serving as pallbearers are Nolan Lehmann, David Lehmann, James Reue, Kevin Lehmann, Mark Herzog, Sean Pieper, John Schaer III, and Kyle Merten. Honorary pallbearers are David John Folschinsky, the St. John Ladies Aid, and the St. John Quilters. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests memorials be directed to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, or to the Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill Fire Departments.
