Salvatore Sorbera

Salvatore Sorbera, 70, of Brenham, died July 15, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Sorbera was born Nov. 19, 1932, in New York City, NY, to Samuel and Natalie Morice Sorbera. He was a retired Army major from Ft. Sam Houston. Mr. Sorbera was active with Ducks Unlimited in La Grange and loved woodworking and building things for people. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Men s Group in La Grange. Survivors include his wife, Ann DeWitt Sorbera of Brenham; mother, Natalie Sorbera of New York City, NY; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Sherry Sorbera of Bulverde, Joseph Sorbera of San Antonio and Dr. Thomas and Dr. Jill Sorbera of Lodi, CA; stepdaughters, Anna Day Ginsberg and husband Todd of Austin, Lisa Day Griffin and husband Brian of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Becky of San Antonio, Anthony, Gabriella and Sean of Lodi, CA, David of Boston, MA, Jeremiah of Jacksonville, FL, Brian of San Marcos, Christopher, Daniel and Timothy of Bulverde and Jena of Omaha, NE; step-grandchildren, Emma Margaret Ginsberg of Austin and Corinne Suzanne Griffin of Fort Worth; sisters, Frances Amato of Toms River, NJ and Lilla Baken of Belen, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sorbera was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Sorbera. The graveside service will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday, July 18 in Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Salvation Army. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
