Shannon Roy Theeck, 48, of Washington, died Sept. 5, 2018, at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10 at Independence Baptist Church (old church), with Pastors Phillip Hassell and Hollas Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a reception celebrating Shannon’s life will be held at his home, 15305 Bluff Rd, Washington, TX.
Shannon was born in Brenham, TX, to James Albert and Dorothy Marie (Hegar) Theeck. He was a 1992 graduate of Texas A&M University. He was a cattle rancher, a prominent beef cattle judge, an avid fisherman, hunter and scuba diver. Shannon was a member of many organizations including past president for Texas Farm Bureau, Mid coast Santa Gertrudis Association, Santa Gertrudis Breeders International, Houston All Breed Sale and Aggieland Scuba Club. He and his family had the honor of having the 2012 Reserve Grand Champion pen of heifers at the Houston Livestock Show.
Survivors include his life partner, Traci Powell of Washington; children, Cameron Theeck and Avery Theeck, both of Mertzon, TX, Cody White of San Antonio and Katie Buegeler and Randy Buegeler, both of Washington; brother, Clayton James Theeck and wife, Julia of Brenham; nephews, Blane Theeck of College Station, TX, Cody Williams of Round Top, and Justin Soloman of Bandera, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Shannon was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers include Jerry Moriarity, Craig Landry, Travis Clanton, Mike Clepper, Chris Trotter, Blane Theeck, Charlie Fuller and Danny Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Jansen, Wayne Klussmann, Grady Kissel, Wayne Eppler, Doug Dean, Rob Stone, Shawn Jennings and Preston Northrup.
The family is requesting memorials may be given to Texas Brigades, a non-profit, youth leadership and conservation education organization, with which his sons, Cameron and Avery are involved.
