Shirley was born September 25, 1936 in Ledbetter, Texas, to Albert and Leona Bernhardt. She married the love of her life, Ruben Beisert, on October 30, 1954. There was no greater love than the love that these two shared. What an amazing example of a Christian, love-filled marriage!
She is survived by her husband, Ruben Beisert of 62 years; sister, Joyce Spies; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Betty Beisert, Alvin and Ruth Beisert, Ernie and Bernice Beisert, Eugene Iselt, Gladys and Alfred Iselt, Elna and Gene Moerbe, Janette and Joe Benignus, Grace Rackel, Elenora Medack, Esther Exner, and Alice Beisert, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Leona Bernhardt, her in-laws, Louis and Minnie Beisert; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willie & Ruby Beisert, Robert Beisert, Marvin and Charlene Beisert, Corine Iselt, Clara and Rupert Deal, Lorine and Henry Tatum, Leona Schulze, Frieda and Walter Schulze, Waldemar Rackel, Herbert Medack , Herbert Exner, and Helen Beisert.
Shirley was a nurse for 8 years, providing loving care to her patients. She enjoyed dancing, eating out, and spending time with her family and extra-large extended family. Shirley and her husband owned and operated A & R Wallboard for 54 years. They also showed Red Poll Cattle for many years at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed many church activities including singing in the choir. She also had a love for shopping for clothes and jewelry. You never saw her without being dressed to perfection, including her makeup, jewelry, neck scarf and a flower pinned on the lapel of her jacket. She was definitely a class act when it came to fashion. Her husband, Ruben, said every closet in the house was filled with clothes, shoes and jewelry. She was even known to hide some in places he would never find. She will always be remembered for the beautiful smile that she always had on her face. To know her, was to love her, and she will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be directed to Epiphany Lutheran Church.
