Shirley Hueske

Shirley Ann Hueske, 69, of Brenham, died January 18, 2014, in St. Luke''s Hospital in Houston. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21 at Salem Lutheran Church in Salem with Pastors Charles Parnell and Toby Burk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 20 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mrs. Hueske was born September 25, 1944, in Brenham to Charlie and Mildred Rodenbeck Buerger. She was a 1963 graduate of Brenham High School. On August 8, 1965, she married Arthur "Mickey" Hueske at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. Mrs. Hueske was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and served on various committees. She worked for Southwestern Bell for 23 years and later for Germania Insurance for 13 years, retiring in 1999. Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved watching participate in different sports. Mrs. Hueske liked working in her flower garden, and loved life and people. She was a HOST mentor at Krause and Alton Elementary Schools. Those who knew Shirley will remember her beautiful smile and her laugh. Survivors include her husband, Arthur "Mickey" Hueske; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Julie Hueske of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Chris McCain of Brenham; grandchildren, Claire Hueske, Addison, Braden and Kade McCain; and numerous aunts and uncles. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Buerger. Serving as pallbearers are Carl Schlottmann, Marty Martin, Julian Martin, Bob Bormann, Bobby Arndt and Clarence Gerke. Memorials may be directed to the Music Ministry of Salem Lutheran Church, 1500 Salem Rd., Brenham, Tx. 77833. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
