Shirley Elizabeth Barber Johnson, 88, of Brenham, died January 23, 2013, in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Dale Chance officiating. Mrs. Johnson was born May 16, 1924, in Norwich, Connecticut, to Frank Henry P. Clement and Lolita Irene Lord. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. For 12 years she was a dorm mom at Blinn College. She also was a practicing chiropractor with her husband, Merle E. Johnson, D.C. Survivors include her sons, Skip Johnson of Brenham and Marc Anthony Johnson, D.C. and wife Gay of Rosenberg; daughter, Nancy Binford and husband Thom of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Erick Johnson and Aaron Thomas Binford; sister-in-law, Maxine Barber of Brenham; and nephew, Paul Max Barber and wife Jeanette. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Natalie Michelle Binford; parents; husband, Merle Johnson; sister, Phyllis Moore; and brothers, Byron Barber and Paul Barber.
