Stephanie Ludwig

Stephanie Cecilia Ludwig, 93, of Brenham and formerly of Rockdale, died December 8, 2009. She was born September 25, 1916 to William E. and Victoria Kuzel in Corinth, Tx. She attended Corinth schools and completed high school in Buckholts, Tx. Cecilia was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Monica''s Catholic Church in Cameron. On November 11, 1942, she married H. A. "Butch" Ludwig in Cameron, Tx. During their loving marriage of 49 years, they lived in Milam County, Texas. They were members of the Salty, Tx. Square Dance Club and traveled around the state square dancing. Her husband preceded her in death on February 14, 1991. During World War II, she worked at McCloskey General Hospital in Temple, Tx., helping to care for wounded soldiers. She was very proud to be able to help those who were protecting our country''s freedom. She experienced a personal tragedy during World War II when her younger brother, Edwin Kuzel, was killed on Iwo Jima. In 1998, she bought a home and moved to Brenham to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She loved gardening and beautiful flowers, cooking delicious desserts and visiting with her family, friends and neighbors. She especially loved spending time with her great-grandsons in the last years of her life, while they all shared her daughter''s and son-in-law''s home in Brenham. She was a lifelong Democrat. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and her faithful pet of 17 years, Gizmo. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Ron Haussecker of Brenham; grandchildren Ronnie and Heather Haussecker of Houston and April and Danny Wofford of McDade; great-grandsons John and Zachary Resendez of McDade; sister-in-law Barbara Kuzel of Buckholts, and Hazel Kuzel of Calvert; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and special friend and caregiver, Kourtney Washington of Brenham and caregivers Sheary, Brenda and Samantha. Graveside funeral services for Stephanie Cecilia Ludwig will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2009 at Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts, Tx. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Ronnie Haussecker, Jeff Kuzel, Larry Orsag, Brett Coghlan, David Meinardus, and Danny Wofford. Honorary pallbearers are the Trinity Wellness Center staff and Bobby Branham. Memorials may be directed to Washington County EMS, Washington County Democratic Party, 105 E. Main, Brenham, and St. Jude Children''s Hospital.
