Stokely McCaga Hammons, 45, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 in his home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Forest Park Funeral Home on Lawndale in Houston. Mr. Hammons is survived by his father and step mother, Eugene Clarence and Donna Hammons of Brenham; his five brothers, Eugene Clarence Hammons Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, David Lee Hammons of Austin, Timothy J. Hammons of Brenham, and John Paul Hammons of Irvine, California.; one sister, Amy Hammons Rupp of Chula Vista, California. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Velda Rose Hammons. Mr. Hammons worked for Miracle Ear for the past four years as a licensed hearing aid specialist. His office in League City was in the running as top office in customer satisfaction for the year out of 1, 200 offices nationwide. He was truly excited about the possibility of winning the award along with the opportunity to travel to Milan, Italy as part of the award. What made him the most successful was his willingness to help people in need. He loved to ride his motorcycle, play with his dog, organize fantasy football leagues, surf, ride his jet ski and spend time with friends and family. He also loved to make people laugh, had a caring and loving demeanor and a heart as big as he was. He trusted Christ as his Savior over ten years ago and attended several churches in the Houston area. He will be missed by many friends and family. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Ave., Houston, Texas 77023, with the Rev. Timothy J. Hammons officiating. There will be a visitation at 1 p.m. today.
