Teresa "Terri" Bryant

August 24, 1947 — December 5, 2021

Burton, TX

Terri Bryant, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her Burton home on December 5, 2021.

Terri was born Teresa Jane to parents Alexander and Joyce (McCracken) Winkler on August 24, 1947. Terri was part of a large family and had many good memories of growing up in Kingsville, Texas. She graduated from H. M. King High School in 1965.

Terri had various jobs after high school but was drawn to Houston. She attended Alvin Community College and earned an Associate’s Degree, which started her on the path to court reporting. In 1977 while working an office position for a construction company in Houston, Terri met future husband Billy Bryant. They were married on November 23, 1979.

Terri and Billy made a great life together in Houston. Terri started her own business, Bryant Court Reporting. She worked as a freelance court reporter for over 20 years, covering many cases in the Houston area. In the early 90’s, Terri and Billy began enjoying their spare time in Burton, and decided it would be the perfect retirement home. They lovingly tended to their Burton farm, moving their full time in 2000.

Terri enjoyed living the simple life in Burton, playing with her yorkies and miniature donkeys. She was also a prolific quilter and was involved in many area quilt clubs. Over the years, Terri made hundreds of quilts. Her final project was a large log cabin style quilt which portrayed a Christmas tree, complete with gifts at the base.

Terri was known for being a caring friend and family member. She genuinely cared about people and took an interest in what was going on in your life. She was the friend who would always check on you; she maintained a close connection with the people she cared about. Terri’s loving and caring nature will be greatly missed.

Surviving loved ones include husband Billy; granddaughter Catherine Claire (Jefferson) Moore; siblings Mary Helen (Winkler) Miller, Alexis Ann (Winkler) Ley and husband Rick, Alexander John Winkler Jr. and wife Lorre, Gregory Paul Winkler and wife Shelley, Michael James Winkler and wife Kimberly; as well as many wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Alexander Winkler.

In accordance with her wishes, Terri was cremated. A gathering for friends and family will be held on April 2, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
