Thekla W. Borgstedte, 94, of Washington, Texas died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at The Care Center of Brenham. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Friedens United Church of Christ in Washington with Dr. George Klett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mrs. Borgstedte was born May 19, 1916 in Washington, Tx. to Albert and Mary Boenker Lauter. She married Theodore W. Borgstedte on January 24, 1935, who preceded her in death March 10, 1971. Thekla was a lifetime member of Friedens United Church of Christ, and served for many years as JP of Pct. 1, Washington County. She served as curator of the Anson Jones Home at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park, as well as maintaining an active membership in the Washington County Home Demonstration Club, Women''s Fellowship, and the Sons of Herman Lodge. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Mary Helen and Arthur Steele of Washington; Terri and Larry Schilling of Austin; sons and daughters-in-law Ted Jr. and and Linda Borgstedte of La Grange, and Dale and Patricia Borgstedte of Brenham; grandsons Dr. Thomas and Dr. Allyson Borgstedte, Robert and Kate Borgstedte, and Ted Borgstedte III; granddaughters: Christina Borgstedte, Rebecca Borgstedte, Cindy and John Walkoviak, Lisa and John Kettler, and Laura Schilling; great-grandsons: Christopher Walkoviak, John Ross Kettler, Thomas Borgstedte, Jr., Dashiell Borgstedte, and Keaton Borgstedte; great-granddaughters Elizabeth Kettler and Victoria Borgstedte, and sister-in-law, Ella Mae Borgstedte. Preceding her in death was her husband and her parents, as well as sisters Adela Holle, Ida Buck, Olga Wellman, Frieda Roese; brothers Willie, Herman and her twin brother Arnold, and Albert, Jr. Serving as pallbearers are all grandsons and great-grandsons and Earl Everett "Skipper" Stegemoller. Honorary pallbearers are all granddaughters, great-granddaughters, as well as all nieces and nephews. Memorials may be directed to the Friedens United Church of Christ or to a favorite charity.
