Thekla Gaskamp Lueckemeyer, 92, widow of Edwin Lueckemeyer, died July 11, 2009 at Kruse Village. Thekla Lueckemeyer was born August 25, 1916 in William Penn, Texas to Otto and Emma Rosenbaum Gaskamp. She was baptized August 25, 1916 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and confirmed in the same church on March 20, 1932. She was educated at William Penn School. On October 9, 1941 she married Edwin Lueckemeyer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. They celebrated 60 years together. Thekla s life was centered around her family, church and friends. She was a life time member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn, where she was a member of Ladies Aide LWML, she also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, traveling with the family, and a good game of cards. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Rebekah Lueckemeyer of Brenham; two grandchildren, Michael Lueckemeyer of New Braunfels and Sara and Brian Wiens of San Antonio; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Nathan Wiens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Nelda Gaskamp of Brenham, Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp of Brenham, Raymond and Ann Gaskamp of Brenham, Melvin and Pearl Gaskamp of Brenham and Monroe Gaskamp of Brenham; sister and brother-in-law, Meta and Herbert Mutscher of Brenham; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Annie Gaskamp of Brenham, Florence Gaskamp of Richmond, Harold and Johnnie Mae Lueckemeyer of Brenham and Rosa Lee Lueckemeyer of Brenham; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Lueckemeyer on Oct. 25, 2001, parents Otto and Emma Gaskamp, daughter Sylvia Lueckemeyer who died July 1996, brothers, sisters, and sisters-in-law; Otto Gaskamp Jr., Walter Gaskamp, Louise Gaskamp, Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, and Lillian Gaskamp. Funeral services for Thekla Lueckemeyer will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn with Pastor Jeffrey King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at Memorial Oaks Chapel Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Delwin Gaskamp, Kenneth Mutscher, Robert Loflin, Greg Gaskamp, Fred Gaskamp, Tommy Gaskamp. Honorary pallbearer will be Eugene Gaskamp. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. Thekla s family would like to thank the staff of Kruse Village and Hospice of Brazos Valley for the years of care and support.
