Thelma Viola Boehnemann Jurries, 96, of Brenham, the widow of Herbert Jurries, died Dec. 29, 2014, at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brenham. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Deaconess Jennifer Tinker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Jurries was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Burton, TX, to Willie and Meta Weinert Boehnemann. She was baptized Nov. 3, 1918 by Rev. L. Hoefer and confirmed April, 1933 by Rev. Carl Ziehe at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. She was educated at Burton schools. On May 4, 1939, she was married to Herbert Jurries. Mrs. Jurries was a life-long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, where she was the last charter member of the Ladies Aid the first organization of the women organized July 9, 1939. She taught Sunday school for many years and also sang in the choir. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Lois Jurries of Brenham and Royce and Helen Jurries of Columbus; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Hons of Fort Worth; sister, Lee Dell Krause of Brenham; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Lee Roy Boehnemann; two infant brothers; and sister, Rutha May Schultz. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.
