Theodore Naumann Sr, 93 of Brenham, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Trinity Care Center. Theodore was born in Brenham, Texas on April 8, 1916 to Emma Knuppel Naumann Sommerfeld and John Naumann. He was baptized June 11, 1916 in Prairie Hill and confirmed March 20, 1932 in Zion Lutheran Church. On October 10, 1940 he married Henrietta Spreen by Pastor Fred Mgebroff in Zion Lutheran Church. Theo worked as a farmer and later for the City of Brenham Water Department, where he retired after 28 years in 1984. He also ran the projector part time for the Star Light Drive in Theater. Theo was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in the Bluebonnet Club. He enjoyed yard work and even wore out a path in the grass around his house with his electric wheelchair while tending to his plants. He was proud of his many collections of various objects and antiques in his home. It excited him to turn trash into treasure when he could repair discarded items. He especially loved wood working, and he also built and refinished furniture. His picture was printed in 25th anniversary of Wood magazine in October 2009 for still having the first issue. Most of all, Theo was a people person. He never met a stranger and loved to visit with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Spreen Naumann, brothers Melvin Naumann , August Naumann and sister Ella Marie Bloss, and brothers-in-law Charlie Spreen, Fritz Spreen, Melvin Spreen and Alvin Scurlock. He is survived by his three children: Theodore Naumann, Jr. and wife Beverly of Brenham; Gloria Rauch and husband Charles of Brenham and Fred Naumann of Austin; Grandchildren include Trisha and Kim Greiffenstein and their children Kimberly Krolczyk, Taylor Krolczyk, Ethan Greiffenstein and Braeden Greiffenstein; Theodore "Pete" Naumann III and son Tanner Maxfield; John Naumann and friend Nicole Anderle; Hilary Naumann and fiance'' Dennis Koch and their son Kameron Koch; William & Connie Rauch of Kyle and Connie''s children Philip, Sandra and Christina; Jill and Robert Rybarski; Amy Naumann and friend Clint Ridell of Austin; Angela Naumann and Dallas Goodman of Austin and their children, Gavin Koch and Devon Goodman. Brothers and sisters: Melvin Naumann, Emmett Naumann, Emma Lange, Margaret and Raymond Klaehn and Ralph and Irene Sommerfeld. Serving as pallbearers are William Rauch, Jill Rauch-Rybarski, Trisha Naumann-Greiffenstein, Theodore "Pete" Naumann III, John Naumann and Hilary Naumann. Honorary pallbearers are Amy Naumann and Angela Naumann. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday September 2, 2009 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday September 3, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastor David Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
