Thomas (Bookie) Franklin Murski was Born November 2, 1943 in Milroy Hospital, Brenham, Texas to Andrew Stanley and Albina Florence (Kenjura) Murski. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister in law, Raymond And Susan Murski. Bookie was married to Pamela McGlaun on February 25, 1984 in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, near Burton, Texas. As a kid growing up, Bookie was very interested in sports and pitched the first Little League no-hitter in Greenwade Park, led the league in hitting and made the Little League All Star Team. However, Bookie loved the rougher sport of football the most. At Brenham high School, he was a three-time First Team All District player and made All State Honorable Mention his Junior year. In 2012, Bookie was inducted into Brenham High School Football Hall of Fame.
Bookie went on to Texas A&M where he was a Freshman Yell Leader for the Fighting Texas Aggies. But his calling was to play football, so he transferred to Blinn College, where as a Freshman, he made Junior College All American. Due to an auto accident, he sat out his sophomore year, then walked on at North Texas University to become a linebacker for the "Mean Green" where he started for two years while completing his Bachelor degree. After graduation from North Texas with a Bachelor of Business in 1966, Bookie entered the business field with Texas Power and Light commercial division. He also worked for Aetna Life and Casualty as an agent for a short time in Cleburne, Texas. In 1971, he was fortunate enough to start work in the fishing and hunting industry as a factory representative, for more than 40+ years, and enjoying the great outdoors.
During his life, Bookie was an officer in the Cleburne Jaycees, member of Cleburne Country Club, Brenham Country Club, the Blinn Alumni Association, Blinn Letterman Association, Blinn Backer, Supporter of Blinn Sports and Brenham High School Sports.
In between coaching his sons Little League teams, Bookie had the opportunity to fish all over the country and made several fishing films for national TV with Jerry MacKinnis of the Eagle Claw “Fishing Hole” show. Bookie had the privilege of fishing with many legends in the fishing industry, including Tom Mann, Kevin Van Damn, Jimmy Houston, Roland Martin, Buzz Ramsey, his brother Ray Murski, cousin Robert Murski and friend, Fred Winkelmann.
While in the tackle industry, Bookie achieved many honors as Rep of the Year for Eagle Claw Fishing and Tackle, Manns Bait Company, Techsonic Industries and more. For 25 years, he was a Rep and Western Region Manager at Techsonic Industries, where he was awarded the prestigious "Man Of The Year" award. At Murski-Breeding Sales, he was part of several "Rep Group of The Year" awards. Bookie was also an officer in the Southwest Tackle Reps Association.
In all the 40+ years he spent selling fishing and hunting equipment, his best times were spent teaching his boys to fish and hunt and most of all, spending time traveling with his "main squeeze" and wife of 32 years, Pamela. She was the love of his life. Bookie loved helping Pamela at their Murski Homestead Bed and Breakfast. One of Bookies’ favorite sayings was: "Smile a little everyday!"
