Thomas Schulte

Thomas James Schulte, 74, of Brenham, died Aug. 9, 2006, in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Mr. Schulte was born April 12, 1932, in Independence, Washington County, Texas, to Charles Jr. and Mary Buerger Schulte. He was baptized in 1932 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill and was confirmed March 30, 1947, in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. Mr. Schulte was a graduate of Brenham High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. On Sept. 1, 1957, he was married to Dorothy Kolwes in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham. He was the owner of Matt Graham Corp. Mr. Schulte was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill and was an honorary Chapter Farmer in Brenham FFA. He enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, riding around on his ranch and his newly-found interest surfing the Web and E-mail. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Schulte of Brenham; sons and daughter-in-law, Russell Schulte of Houston, Michael and Kaysee Schulte of Brenham and Mark Schulte of Brenham; grandchildren, Casey Schulte, Derrick Schulte, Sarah Schulte, Gavriel Schulte, McKenna Schulte and Keaton Schulte; brother and sister-in-law, Finney C. Sonny and Doris Schulte of Brenham; sister, Mary Helen Cade of Brenham; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Barbara Kramer and Donna and Herman Bentke, Jr., all of Brenham; stepsisters-in-law and stepbrothers-in-law, Caroline and Albert Lee Linke and Judy and Ronnie Haevischer, all of Brenham; niece, Susie Kramer; nephews, Darrell Schulte and wife Liz, Brad Bentke and Phil Bentke; and a great-niece, Natasia Schulte. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Elsie Kolwes Haevischer; father-in-law, Ernest Kolwes; stepfather-in-law, Herbert Haevischer; and brothers-in-law, William P. Buddy Cade and Edwin Bubba Kramer, Jr. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill with Pastor Jim Abbott officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Russell Schulte, Michael Schulte, Mark Schulte, F.C. Schulte, Darrell Schulte, Johnnie Bubba Schulte, Herman Bentke, Jr., Brad Bentke, Sammy Brinkman, Derrick Schulte and John Lejas. Honorary pallbearers will be Keaton Schulte, Thomas Bailey, E.W. Schoenberg, Phil Bentke, Nolan Schwartz, Harold Kolkhorst, Elroy Discher, Roy Gillian and Morris Bubba Brewton. Memorials may be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill or other charities of your choice.
