Thomas J. Sikorski, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was born December 17, 1921 in Bryan, Texas. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 27, 2015 here in Brenham, Texas, at the age of 93.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bhule Sikorski.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Rose Kaminski Sikorski; son, Thomas J. Sikorski, Jr.; daughters, Pat Derkowski and husband Henry, and Helen Marshall; brothers Alvin Sikorski, Benny Sikorski, Fr. Louis Sikorski, and Walter Sikorski, Jr. and one sister, Mary Pavlik; grandchildren: Shawn and Carrie Derkowski, Shelly Derkowski, Brian Derkowski, Wesley and Christy Marshall, Matthew and Krystal Marshall, Erika and Seth Gibson, and Chase Sikorski; great-grandchildren: Austin Derkowski, Brayden Derkowski, Alie Derkowski, Emily Marshall, Tyler Marshall, Bryan Marshall, Jason Marshall, Wyatt Marshall, Madeline Gibson and William Gibson.
Thomas was baptized January 8, 1922. On August 14, 1946, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Kaminiski. Thomas proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, with tours of duty overseas in the Phillipines and Australia. He was a carpenter for most of his adult life, having learned the trade from his father. Later, he worked at TRW Mission in Houston, and then worked in Brenham at Ace Hardware until his retirement in 2003. His quick wit, easygoing nature and keen sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel, from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Thomas will be held at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 701 Church Street, Brenham on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Rite of Committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Shawn Derkowski, Brian Derkowski, Austin Derkowski, Wes Marshall, Matt Marshall, and Chase Sikorski.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for their dedication in caring for Thomas during his illness.
