Tilton Reece "T.R." Follis, 88, of Mill Creek Community, Washington County, went to be with his Lord on June 8, 2009. He was born in Gause, Texas on February 8, 1921, the youngest child of Joe Grover and Rhoda Lindsay Follis. During WWII at age 21, T. R. joined the Navy and served on the USS Monticello as a boswain mate. In 1944 he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Lee Boyd. Upon his discharge he helped his parents with hog farming in Tomball, Tx. before starting his own dairy business and then in 1956 moved to Brenham. He was a dairyman for 30+ years and was one of the few in Texas to have Red and White Holsteins, which the grandchildren proudly showed in area fairs and in Wisconsin. T. R. was a member of the Greenvine Baptist Church where he served as a trustee for many years and was an active member until his health deteriorated. He served a number of years on the board of Houston Milk Producers Federal Credit Union and the Southern Region Board of Associated Milk Producers, Inc. He was also instrumental in the organization of Boys Country, located in Hockley, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Evelyn Timmermann and Oleta Wyatt, one brother, Reginald Follis, infant daughter, Joan Follis and sons-in-law David Demuth and Marvin Schulte. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Ruth Follis; children Roberta "Bobbie" Schulte, Rebecca "Becky" Demuth, Nancy and Joseph Schubert; grandchildren Sally and Terry Clifton, Lisa and Juan Medellin, Susan Schulte, Paula Sherrouse and John Wessinger; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Mindy, and Alex Demuth, Taylor Sherrouse, Kayla Wessinger, Olivia and Travis Clifton; great-great grandson Lane James Demuth, special niece Margaret Hughes, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for T. R. Follis will be held at Greenvine Baptist Church, 5010 FM 2502, Burton, Tx. on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lester Vinson and Rev. Alan Knuckles officiating. Graveside services will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Schubert, Terry Clifton, John Wessinger, Nicholas Demuth, Alex Demuth, and Sam Boyd. Honoary pallbearers are Juan Medellin and the Deacon Board of Greenvine Baptist Church. Memorials may be directed to Greenvine Baptist Church or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
