Timothy Patrick Ramey, 32, of Houston, died Jan. 2, 2007, in Houston. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 at First Baptist Church in Chappell Hill. A meal will follow the service. Tim was born June 27, 1974, in Tyler. In 1975, he was adopted by Bobby and Dale Ramey and they resided in Spring until 1976. Mr. Ramey grew up in Houston and was a great achiever at his love for sports. An exceptional baseball player, he loved and played soccer with all his heart and wanted to be a basketball player. He loved the Comets and was a season ticket holder for several years. Tim fought the battle with mental illness most of his life. There were many days he and his family thought they were going to beat it, but its hold on our society has not been conquered yet. Tim attended Pine Shadows and Woodview Elementary Schools and spent most of his teen years at a facility in Manville. He was attending Pyramid House, where he was working on his GED and participated in the day program at The Gathering Place. There were so many friends that showed their love for Tim and his parents. His walk in life was so difficult, but many steps were eased by the love of our friends that engulfed him in their love. For Bobby and me, the friendships we have been blessed with have helped the three of us continue our climb across this terrible disease. Tim loved each and every one of you from his heart. We especially want to thank Jim Everett our Rock, Crme who showed him a better road, Dr. Joan Shirley who helped him laugh through much of his teens and Ray Rimkus wherever you are. Special thanks to Patsy Thomas and Janie Moore. Without your shoulders and laps to cry on, I could not have made some days. A memorial fund has been set up in Tim Ramey s name at Brenham National Bank in Brenham.
