Tina Bailey Ross passed away on September 29 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, at the age of 70.
She was being cared for by her loving son Trey and her loving husband of almost 41 years, Jack Ross.
Tina and Jack married in 1982. During that time Tina followed Jack’s jobs to Florida and the Bahamas where she also became an accomplished SCUBA instructor.
Born October 14, 1952 in Houston, Texas, Tina was the youngest of two daughters. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1970. In her early years she was raised on weekends and summers at the family ranch in Simonton, Texas. She rode her horse Shorty, and participated in many trail rides and drill teams on horseback at Valley Lodge. As a young girl she rode in the first Valley Lodge Trail Ride to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Because of her parents involvement in the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show, Tina was able to meet and have her picture made with many of the T.V. Western stars in the 60’s like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Pat Brady, Hugh O’Brien, James Arness and Robert Horton.
Tina was a strong, independent woman and lived all over the world. She became a PADI scuba instructor in California. She lived in Bahrain, The Bahamas, Florida and Texas. Trey accompanied her on her many adventures until they returned to Brenham to stay in 2000.
Tina’s Yorkies were her other children. She loved all her dogs and left behind her two Yorkies Bootz and Brie. They were truly the love of her life.
She is predeceased in death by parents A.E. “Snake” and Jo Evans Bailey. Grandparents V.L. and Rue Evans and Earl and Ola Bailey.
Tina is survived by her loving husband, Jack, son Trey, sister Tamy and spouse Roger Metzger; and nephews Kurt Metzger and spouse Kate and daughters Bailey, Aubrey, Ellie and Ryan Metzger and spouse Olivia and daughters Grace and Evan.
Also surviving Tina is her “second son” David Alonso and his family. David was a foreign exchange student from Spain who Tina took in and raised as her own. They remained close all these years.
The family will plan a celebration of life in the future.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Tina’s name to the Animal Friends of Washington County. 3901 Hwy 36 N Brenham, TX 77833
