Travis Lee Bevers, 50, of Chappell Hill, TX, died Dec. 10, 2012, at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 14 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Chappell Hill, in its new building at FM 2447 and U.S. Hwy. 290. Rev. David Beckworth, Jack Faulkner and Bill Montgomery will officiate. Burial will be in Atkinson Cemetery in Chappell Hill. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Bevers was born May 21, 1962, in Mission, TX, to Kenneth Hubert and Ann Hallock Abney Bevers. On Jan. 24, 1982, he was married to Kelly McVey. Mr. Bevers was a member of First Baptist Church of Chappell Hill, where he served as a deacon and chairman of the church''s project steering building committee; Travis had a passion for ministry to men and started the Just For Men Sunday morning Bible study at his church. He also served on the board of Sandy Bay Lighthouse Ministries in Roatan, Honduras, planned and served on various mission trips to Mexico and Honduras and served on the board of Brenham Christian Academy. Mr. Bevers was a businessman of integrity as well as a master electrician and realtor. He was an incredible son, husband, father and friend. He loved his wife more than words could say, and he loved her well. He was the best Popi to his dear grandsons. Mr. Bevers was an avid fisherman and hunter, a baby whisperer and a "fisher of men." He was generous of his time, talent and treasure. Survivors include his wife, Kelly Bevers of Chappell Hill; parents, Ken and Ann Bevers of Chappell Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Sarah Bevers of Brenham, daughter and son-in-law, Halley and Josh Johnson of Brenham; godson, Tyler Kmiec of Chappell Hill; grandchildren, Jesse Alan Johnson, Silas Duane Johnson and Noah Sebastian Lucas Hall; brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Tracie Bevers of Shenandoah; sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Jeff Kamprath of Chappell Hill; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reta and Ted McVey of Midland; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shelly and Travis Stovall and Ronda and Rusty Theobald, all of Midland. Mr. Bevers was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jeff McVey. Pallbearers will be Marshall Bevers, Tyler Kmiec, Josh Johnson, Troy Bevers, Jeff Kamprath, David Sowers, Shelby Brady and Dave Curry. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church of Chappell Hill and his brothers of Southeast Texas Tres Dias.
