Verlene Becker, 87, of Brenham, and the widow of Alfred Becker died on March 25, 2018 at Focused Care at Brenham. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Fenton and Pastor Brianna Merkel officiating, following the service interment will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be on Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Verlene was born on October 15, 1930 to Willie and Velva “Ellett” Kirk in Burnett TX. On January 9, 1961 She was married to Alfred Becker by Rev. A.J. Mohr. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for 10 years, and was a member of Wednesday evening women’s circle. She operated Verlene’s Beauty Salon for over 35 years. She enjoyed going to the Bluebonnet Opera. After she retired she went to the local nursing homes and did the residents manicures. She loved to ride motorcycles with her husband and attended motorcycle shows. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law: Melanie and Allen Jacobs of Brenham, TX, grandchildren; Brad Allen Jacobs and Kaylin Faith Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Becker and her parents, Willie and Velva Kirk, and two infant sisters.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Christian Day School or a charity of your choice.
