Vernon Gaskamp, 70, died June 13, 2017 in Bellville.
Born Dec. 22, 1946 in Brenham to Herbert and Hattie Mertins Gaskamp, Vernon was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Wm. Penn, where he remained a member until his death. He earned an Associates degree from Concordia University in Austin, and Bachelor’s degree from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
He served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1969 until 1978, after completing duty on submarines. Vernon worked in Dallas for 35 years with a Wholesale Import/Export Lighting Company, and retired to Brenham in 2014.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Wm. Penn. Pastor Mark Moldenhauer will officiate.
The visitation will immediately follow the service at the church, and will include a light lunch.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Janice Gaskamp; nieces and nephews, Amy and Jason Pieper, and Marcus and Miranda Gaskamp; great nephews Rick, Michael, and Eric Cano and a great-niece, Gwen Gaskamp; aunts and uncle, Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp, Florence Gaskamp, and Pearl Gaskamp. Also surviving are numerous cousins.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, and a brother, Forrest Gaskamp.
Memorials may be directed to Bethlehelm Lutheran Church of Wm. Penn, or any favorite charity.
