Vernon “O’Dell” Merryman was born on August 6, 1953 in Austin, Texas to Vernon Lee and Joyce Elaine Merryman on the Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas.
He grew up in the Houston and Brenham areas, and he graduated from Brenham High School in 1972. He married his wife, Terri Lynn Mora in Independence, Texas on January 31, 1981.
O’Dell worked in Houston in the automotive parts industry from 1976 to 2008, when he moved to Brenham full time. He retired in 2015 from First Baptist Church Brenham as the Facilities Manager.
O’Dell was the proud father of three amazing children, who when he was not working, took all his time! He was scout leader, baseball coach, softball coach, a dance dad and much more!
Along with Terri, the thing he enjoy most in his later years was having “The Farm” full of grandbabies! It brought him great joy to see his kids and their children enjoy time in the place where he grew up.
