Vernon William Plueckhahn, 85, of Brenham, died June 7, 2012 at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Burial will be in La Bahia Cemetery, near Burton. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, June 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Plueckhahn was born March 7, 1927 in the Winedale community, to Henry Gus and Florence Ginzel Plueckhahan. He was baptized July 31, 1927 in his parents'' home in Carmine and was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 1941 in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine by Rev. H. Brunotte. Mr. Plueckhahn served in the Army and Air Force during World War II. On Sept. 14, 1947, he married Evelyn Hardan at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville by Rev. Richard Weber. Mr. Plueckhahn was a cattle and poultry farmer. He was an associate member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine and was a member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge #6 and the La Bahia Cemetery Association. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Plueckhahn of Brenham; daughters, Doris Redman and husband Michael of Brenham and Nancy Barnette and friend Bob Erke of Story, Arkansas; brother, Floyd Plueckhahn and wife Nettie of Austin; grandchildren, Justin Redman and wife Brandie of Fort Myers, Florida, Casey Redman and wife Lisa of Brenham and Stacey Herzog of Echo, Nevada; great-grandchildren, Savannah Redman, Ava Redman and Emily Redman; niece, Suzanne Bergmann and husband Art of Georgetown; nephew, Blake Plueckhahn and wife Connie of Georgetown; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Marla Joe Plueckhahn in May 1970, and an infant sister. Pallbearers will be Justin Redman, Casey Redman, Blake Plueckhahn, Floyd Etzel, Marvin Marburger, David Eilers, Gary Goebel and Ronnie Hinze. Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley, La Bahia Cemetery Association, Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine or a charity of your choice.
