Vernon Glenn Thielemann passed away peacefully at his home in Houston, Texas on December 1, 2022, at the age of 81. He was born to Albert and Elsie Thielemann on July 31, 1941, in Brenham, Texas. Vernon was baptized and later confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Brenham. He was a curious young child, always wondering how things worked and following his dad around the farm. He graduated from Brenham High School in 1960 and then attended Blinn Junior College where he was active in the campus Lutheran organization. He then headed to Austin where he earned his Industrial Engineering/Business degree from the University of Texas. He was a proud Longhorn and for many years regularly attended UT football games. After graduation, he served in the National Guard and Army Reserve. He moved to Houston where he worked for Cameron Iron Works and various other manufacturing companies.
He met the love of his life, Carol Meischen Thielemann, under the big oak trees in Brenham at a Luther League event, and they married in 1967. He was a proud father to daughter Michelle and son Brad. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. He was affectionately known as PawPaw to his seven grandchildren, and he took great delight in seeing them and following their activities. Vernon never met a project, big or small, around the house that he wouldn’t tackle. He especially loved woodworking and spent countless hours in his workshop designing and building things. Some of his favorite moments were spent around the house sharing a meal and joking with friends and neighbors. He was committed to his family and his faith and was loved by many.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elsie Stern Thielemann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Erna Haedge Meischen, and niece Stephanie Meischen.
