Viola Gaskamp Lawson, 100, went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2020 and was welcomed home by her parents, William and Minnie Gaskamp, her sister, Leona, and her loving husband, Charlie.
Viola was born in Welcome, Texas on March 13, 1920 and later moved to Houston where she worked as a welder at Hughes Tool. After retiring, she moved back to Brenham where she met Charlie. She was a kind and loving person who valued family most, and enjoyed traveling and playing bingo. Vi had a wonderful since of humor that was second to none and was always so much fun. She had a heart of gold and a smile that could brighten any room. She will be dearly missed.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lawson, sister, Leona (Gaskamp) Weiss, stepson, Charles Smith and wife Nancy, stepdaughter, Jean Brooks, and nieces, Janet Pomykal and Natalie Van Meter.
Viola is survived by her granddaughter Dana Swanson and husband John of Brazoria, Texas, stepson John Lawson and wife Carole of Spring, Texas, stepson Bob Lawson and wife Doris of New Braunfels, Texas, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at College Station City Cemetery on Saturday, November 21st at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Wesley Brethren Church or to the Blizzard Senior Activity Center both in Brenham.
