Virginia Stegant Schulz was born on November 27, 1931 to Leon and Nancy Flisowski Stegant in Brenham, Texas. She was baptized in infancy by Rev. John Wesolek in St. Mary s Catholic Church and was later confirmed there. Virginia attended St. Mary s School and Brenham High School. A well-known, very well-respected LVN, Virginia s love of helping people led her to become a nurse, receiving her earliest training at the hands of the Sisters of St. Francis at the age of 16. Her career of over forty years began in St. Francis Hospital and continued in St. Jude Hospital. She later joined the nursing staff at Milroy Memorial Hospital which later became Bohne Memorial Hospital, and ultimately, Trinity Medical Center. Virginia worked in Trinity s Home Health program until her retirement in 2002. On Monday afternoon, October 27, 2003, the Lord s heavenly angels carried Virginia from her pain to her eternal resting place. She had attained the age of 71 years. Survivors include her mother, Nancy Stegant of Brenham; her son and daughter-in-law, Allen & Karen Schulz of Brenham; her sisters and a brother-in-law: Betty Stegant and Pat & Ron Jaster, all of Brenham; her grandchildren: Lea Ann Schulz and Scott Schulz, both of Brenham; and a great-granddaughter, Jadyn Lashea Ausby of Brenham. Virginia is also survived by her nephews, Brad Jaster and his wife, Vicki, of Brenham and Chris Jaster of Austin; her nieces: Elaine Stegant of Austin and Heather Jaster of San Marcos; as well as three great-nephews: Jakob, Cameron and Aden Jaster, along with numerous other relatives and friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her father, Leon Stegant; her sons: Terry and Russell Schulz and brother, Ted Stegant. A Vigil service will be prayed in Memorial Oaks Chapel on Wednesday evening, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered by Rev. Msgr. Benedict Zientek in St. Mary s Catholic Church on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Jaster, Chris Jaster, Jeff Hohlt, David Dahmann, Jerry Schaefer and Dana Durham. Memorials may be given to St. Mary s Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Memorial Oaks Chapel.
