Vivian Janes

Vivian Grace “Hansie” (Quinn) Janes, 78, wife of Alvin H. Janes, passed away February 22, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Wesley Brethren Church, with Pastor Mike Groseclose officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Affectionately known as “Hansie” to her family, Vivian was born November 14, 1938 in Copeland, Texas to August and Lillie Belle Thonig Quinn. She attended Central Elementary School, and graduated from Brenham High School in 1957. She was married to Alvin H. “Buddy” Janes on August 18, 1957.

Vivian was employed at Bluebonnet Electric in Brenham for a number of years. She was Office Manager at Memorial Oaks Chapel for 36 years, and served on the Prairie Lea Cemetery Board for 25 years. She was a member of the Christian Sisters of Wesley Brethren Church, where she was a faithful member until her death.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin H. Janes; sons Jason Janes and wife Karan, and Brian Janes and special friend, Kim; daughter, Leah Janes, all from the Wesley community; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Margaret and Luther Schwettmann, Marie Hensel and friend, Henry Morgan; sister, Blondean Kuecker; grandchildren: Walt and Margaret Fehrle, Michelle Fehrle and fiancé Jason LaRoche, Robby and Briana Beamon, Seth Heintschel, J.D. and Alyssa Janes, Hayley Janes, and Riley Janes; great-grandchildren: Wesley, Kelsey, and Klara Fehrle, Hunter and Samantha Brown, Emerey, Dacie, Cora and Blakelyn Beamon, Landen LaRoche, and Colt and Canon Janes. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lad and Martha Janes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Monroe Gaskamp, Joyce and Steve Mantey; brothers-in-law D. C. Boeker, Henry Kuecker, and Joy Hensel.

Serving as pallbearers are Walt Fehrle, Jason LaRoche, Robby Beamon, Seth Heintschel, J. D. Janes, Wesley Fehrle, Hunter Brown, and Riley Janes. Vivian’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be directed to the Wesley Brethren Cemetery Fund or to any favorite charity.

Funeral arrangements for Vivian Grace Janes are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
