W. H. Buddy Willie Meinkowsky, age 86, of Round Top Carmine, died April 10, 2004 at Monument Hill Nursing Center in La Grange. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at Foehner Funeral Home, Monday, April 12, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Meinkowsky was born March 4, 1918, in Burton, Texas, the son of William and Minnie Ickert Meinkowsky. He was on July 28, 1918, in Burton by Pastor H.L. Schulz and confirmed on April 1, 1934 in Zion Evangelical Church of Womack, near Clifton in Bosque County by Pastor George Diehm. He married Edna Kleine on October 14, 1939 in Zion Evangelical Church in Womack. In 1956, the family moved from Clifton to Round Top-Carmine to live on the family farm. He farmed full time and also did carpenter work. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ for 48 years and served on the church council. He and Edna cleaned the church for many years. He was a very active member of Round Top Sons of Herman Lodge # 151 until he became too ill to attend. Survivors include his wife Edna Meinkowsky of Round Top-Carmine; two sons, Leonard Meinkowsky and wife Myrt of Rosenberg, Larry Meinkowsky and wife Verna of Hallettsville; one daughter, Deloris Meinkowsky Koehl and husband Billie of Round Top-Carmine; grandchildren, Melissa Meinkowsky Borecky and husband Marion of Rosenberg, Michele Meinkowsky Thayer and husband Glenn of Houston, Troy Meinkowsky and wife Renee of Odessa, Shawn Meinkowsky of Round Top, Brannon Meinkowsky of Conroe, Jared Meinkowsky of Houston and special friend Brooke Bludau, Blaine Koehl and wife Destre of Carmine, Heath Koehl of Round Top-Carmine, and Wade Koehl of Round Top-Carmine and special friend Jami Jacob; great-grandchildren, Amber and Taylor Borecky, Landon, Maddie, and Caitlyn Thayer, Braylee Koehln and Kanen and Bryndle Meinkowsky; Brothers-in-law, Edmond Kleine, Melvin Kleine and wife Johnnie Lou, Erwin Kleine and wife Doris, all of Clifton, Thomas Conrad of Meridian; sisters-in-law, Clara Dee Broustad and husband Clifford of Clifton, and Geneva Coughlin and husband Pat of Morgan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, parents-in-law, brothers, sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law, William and Minnie Meinkowsky, Ed and Irene Meinkowsky of Clifton, Roy and Denver Meinkowsky of Clifton, Thelma and Johnnie Harris of Clifton, and Elvera Conrad of Meridian, preceded him in death. Pallbearers are Troy Meinkowsky, Shawn Meinkowsky, Brannon Meinkowsky, Jared Meinkowsky, Blaine Koehl, Heath Koehl, and Wade Koehl. Honorary pallbearers are Melissa and Marion Borecky, Michele and Glenn Thayer, Renee Meinkowsky and Destre Koehl. Memorials may be made to St. John s United Church of Christ Building Fund in Burton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
