Wade "Bubba" Jurries

August 29, 1947 — June 1, 2023

Brenham

Wade “Bubba” Earl Jurries, 75, of Brenham passed away on June 1, 2023 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Brenham.

Wade was born on August 29, 1947 in Brenham, TX to Alvin and Ora Nell (Wickel) Jurries.  Wade was baptized on November 9, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham.  He received the Holy Rite of Confirmation on March 26, 1961 at Grace Lutheran Church as well.

Wade attended Brenham Schools and graduated in 1965.  In his high school career, he played football and was a 4 year letterman of the Brenham Cub Baseball team.  After graduation, Wade went to work for Santa Fe Railroad in Somerville, TX.  On October 7, 1972, he married Laura Lee Rosenbaum in Zionsville Lutheran Church.  In January 1976, they welcomed their only child Gwynne Renee.

During his employment at the railroad, he also served as Washington County Constable Precinct 3 from November 1986 till December 1992.

After retirement from the railroad, Wade took a position at Brenham State School in the grounds department and spent several years employed there until his final retirement.  During his retirement he enjoyed piddling around the house, feeding snacks to his beloved dog Duke, and enjoyed attending all the activities of his grandchildren.  One of his greatest joys was seeing his grandson Jacob wear the Brenham Cub green and white playing baseball on the same field as he did at Fireman’s Park.  He also beamed with excitement watching Sarah excel as a Brenham Cubette Softball player and his heart was so happy seeing Luke wear #55 this past fall on the football field.   He loved everything about those three kids and was so very proud of them.

Bubba is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laura Jurries of Brenham. He leaves to mourn his daughter and her spouse Gwynne and John Mabie of Brenham and grandchildren Jacob Wade, Sarah Marie, and Luke Austin, all of Brenham.  He is also survived by brother-in-laws Butch Seeker of Brenham and Arno Jahnke of Brenham as well as sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Sheron and Chip Citzler of LaGrange and Raymond and Karen Rosenbaum of Burton, and father-in-law, Eddie Love of Brenham.  He also leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, sisters Gayle Jahnke and LaNell Seeker, father-in-law Willie Rosenbaum, mother-in-law Ella Mae Love, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
