Waldo Moeller

Waldo Eugene Moeller was born February 19, 1924, at Rockhouse, Texas to Alma Carolina Weiss Moeller and Benjamin Louis Richard Moeller. He was baptized in 1924 at Industry Methodist Church and confirmed in the Christian faith in 1938 at Industry Methodist Church. He was married to Jeanette Luedeker on December 2, 1945 at the Industry Methodist Church. She became his business and ranching partner as well as his traveling companion. They were married for 48 years at the time of her passing. On December 17, 1994, Waldo married the new love of his life Edna Reue Moeller at Salem Luther Church by Pastor Bill Derrick. Traveling became a favorite pastime for them as well as becoming pitch partners in many local clubs and tournaments. Waldo attended Rockhouse School, Rockhouse, Texas, and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1941. Upon graduation he went to Houston with his cousin Herman Weiss, Jr. to seek employment as a dairy milk delivery driver. In 1942 he volunteered to join the Navy and was stationed on the USS Alhena where he was a ship electrician. After discharge at the end of the war he married and made Brenham his life long home. His first employment was with Schleider Furniture Store as an appliance repairman but his business skills led to him to start Waldo Moeller Electric in 1951. The business grew over the years to become a well known electrical contracting firm under the name of Moeller Electric Co. After his marriage to Edna and upon his retirement he continued his cattle business in the Salem area and expanded into real estate development creating Moeller Enterprises. In this new venture Edna became his business partner and devoted bookkeeper. Waldo and Edna were very active in community organizations. He was life long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, life long member of the Salem Fire Department and involved with the Prairie Hill Fire Department, former member of the Wonder Hill Shooting Club, member of the Greenvine Wildlife Management Association, Blinn College Ex Students Association and Brenham Evening Lions Club. He was a buyer and supporter of the Washington County Fair since 1979. Waldo and Edna were strong supporters of Blinn College and were the primary contributors to the MRW Studio Theatre in the O''Donnel l Performing Arts Center and contributors to the A.W. Hodde Technical Center. He served on the advisory board of the technical center until the time of his death. In 2003 Waldo and Edna were honored as Blinn College Outstanding Alumni. Attending reunions was a strong passion for him. He attended all his school reunions whenever possible and made the trips to ship reunions in many states around the country for the last eighteen years. Survivors include his wife Edna , daughter Diane Pieper and husband Lloyd, son, Weldon Moeller and wife Paulette . step son Judge Matt Reue, step son Dr. David Reue and wife Susan of Austin , and former daughter in law, Tina Reue Webb. Grandchildren include : Matt and Amy Pieper, Melanie and Donny Roberts, Aaron Moeller, Amanda Moeller, Andrew Reue, Rachel Reue, Claire Reue, and Colin Reue. He loved and spent time with his devoted great grandchildren Broc Bosse, Kate Roberts, Sarah Beth Roberts, Cole Orosco, Lizzy Hegar, Hunter Pieper, Hayden Pieper, Haven Moeller, Cash Moeller, Hattie Moeller and Amos Moeller. Also surviving are His brother Clarence Moeller and wife Kathleen of Crystal River, Florida, sister-in-law Leona Spiess Luedeker of New Ulm, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins .He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jeanette, sister, Dorothy Moeller Schultz, brother-in-law Harold Schultz, and brother-in-law Waldo Luedeker. Funeral services for Waldo will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastors Charles Parnell and Toby Burk officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Luedeker , Randall Schultz, James Stokes, Davie Collins, Douglas Mira, Eddie Castaneda , Dr. Milton Radtke, and Lee Gaskamp. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Moeller, the Friday Breakfast Bunch, Evening Lions Club, his devoted group of friends: Lonnie and Dorothy Addicks, Willie and Odell Lueckemeyer, Ed and Terry Lenz, Nadine and Buddy Muske, Marie Sonnenburg, and Otto and Doris Wehring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blinn College Foundation, Salem Church Youth Fund, or the charity of your choice.
