Walter Louis Schlabach, age 64 of Brenham passed away February 12, 2025 in College Station, Texas.
He was born June 11, 1960 in Brenham, Texas to Wollie and Esther Wunderlich Schlabach. He graduated from Brenham High School in 1979 and attained an Associate of Arts degree from Blinn Jr. College. He was married on October 19, 1991 to Alisa Hickey at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Walter's family was his whole life and he was especially proud of his grandchildren, always ensuring they had everything they needed and guiding them on the right path. He loved making people laugh and was quite the character in High School and beyond. He enjoyed family gatherings, always making sure that there was enough food and that everyone was taken care of and had a good time. He was a very selfless and caring individual, and he will be missed more than words can express.
He is survived by loving family members, wife, Alisa Schlabach and children, Katie and Jonathan Schlabach. Precious grandchildren, Keeli, Kambree and Davien Schlabach, sister, Miranda Schlabach Meier, niece and nephew, Carra Meier and Christopher Meier, brothers in law and sisters in law, Shane and Susan Hickey, Chris and Debbie Hickey, brother in law, Joe Hickey, sister in laws, Michelle Wileman and Gloria Hickey, Aunts, Beverly Schlabach and Verna Wunderlich as well as numerous cousins and special friends, Lewis and Bobby LaFerney and Lance Chambers. He will also be missed by his k-nine companion Rachel, who faithfully stayed by his side for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wollie and Esther Schlabach and brother-in-law, Donald Meier, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maxine and Michael Hickey and brother-in-law Tim Hickey.

Memorials may be made to Abiding Word Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17th at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18th at Abiding Word Lutheran Church, 464 Oak Tree Crossing in Brenham. Burial to follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
