Walter Schrader

Walter Henry Schrader, 89, formerly of Burton, the husband of Ruth Schrader died February 3, 2013 at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2013 10 a.m. at St. John''s United Church of Christ with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 pm Monday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Walter was born December 14, 1923 in Needville, TX to Otto Fritz and Wanda Nichter Schrader. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville, TX. Walter graduated from Richmond High School. On July 1, 1951 he married Ruth Adel Engelmohr at St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton, TX. Walter was employed at Merchants Freight Lines for 39½ years as a traffic consultant. He served in the Navy from March 1943 to June 1946. Walter was a member of St. John''s UCC in Burton and a member of the Top Cat Dance Club. He enjoyed dancing and gardening. Survivors include his wife Ruth Schrader, his sister Ruby Poncik, numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Sylvester Butch Poncik. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. John''s Memorial Fund.
