Weida Estella Whittington Ginn was born October 30, 1929 in Stone County, Mississippi. She passed away on April 14, 2017 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, at the age of 87 years.

She attended High School at Daisy Vestry High School in Stone County and Home Vocational High School in Jackson County, Mississippi where she was named Valedictorian of her class in 1947. She attended Perkinston Jr. College and majored in Religious Education.

She Married Leon Dennis Ginn on July 23,1949 in the Methodist Church in Wiggins, Mississippi. In 1940, at the age of 11, she made a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Alexander Memorial Church in Ramsey Springs, Mississippi. She received training as an accountant from a certified public accountant between high school and college and was known as an extraordinary bookkeeper throughout her adult life. After her marriage, she lived throughout the United States including Riverside and Sacramento, California, Cuba, Alabama, New Orleans, Louisiana, Miami, Florida, Biloxi, Mississippi, Houston, Texas and ultimately resided in Brenham, Texas to raise her family. She had three sons, William Dennis Ginn, born May 1, 1961, John Claude Ginn born March 11, 1964, and later in life R. Louis Symons. During her years in Brenham, she was a long time member of the Brenham Presbyterian Church, served as president of the Washington County 4-H Adult Leaders Association, was a Committeewoman/Director at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Treasurer of the Brenham Band Parents Club helping to raise record sums for the BHS Band, and a tireless contributor and life member of the American Paint Horse Association and Dorm Mother at Blinn College at the Brenham campus. During the elementary years of her children’s lives she was a cub scout den mother, little league mom, classroom mother and a constant volunteer for the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Otto and Elner Crawford Whittington, three brothers, William Burrell, Urschell Murray and Hoytt Otto Whittington, four sisters, Melba Wade, Lurenda Broadus, Angelina Strickland, and Gwynith Fae Odom. She was also preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Leon Dennis Ginn.

She is survived by sons, William Dennis Ginn and wife Nancy of Bowling Green, Kentucky, John Claude Ginn and wife Eydie of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and R. Louis Symons of Carmine, Texas. She is also survived by two brothers, Tony Keith Whittington, and Hardy King Whittington, and four sisters, Willa Mae Vincent, Minnie Elaine Breland, Joyce Walters, and June Virginia Voigt. Survivors also include grandchildren, William Joseph Ginn of Bowling Green, Kentucky, John Charles Ginn and wife Catherine of Wylie, Texas, Andy McDowell Ginn and wife Stephanie of Richardson, Texas and Molly Kathryn Elizabeth Ginn of Sulphur Springs, Texas and one great grandchild, Caroline Elizabeth Ginn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, Texas. Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday April 17th, 2017 at Prairie Lea cemetery in Brenham. Visitation with the family will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to the Brenham Presbyterian Church.
