Werner Paul Oeser

September 22, 1943 — November 29, 2024

Brenham

Werner Paul Oeser, 81, of Brenham Texas passed away on November 29, 2024.

Werner was born in Austin County on September 22, 1943 to Arthur and Ora Nell (Sommerlatte) Oeser. He was baptized April 23, 1946 in the Lutheran Faith. Werner was confirmed on August 12, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Texas. He graduated Fayetteville High School on May 27, 1962, and proudly drove the school bus his senior year.

On October 22, 1966, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Maresh at Nelsonville Brethren Church by Rev. Albert Michalik. They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage.

After 40 years of working at Hi-Line Industries, Werner retired and could be found at one of his two farms, either in Nelsonville or Willow Springs. His joy was gardening, raising his cattle, and working on his tractors. He took great pride in everything he grew in his garden, mainly his cabbage. Collecting old tractors was a hobby he enjoyed; he had seventeen tractors which he thought by collecting them he was saving them from being destroyed. His goal was to fix them up and have one for each of his children and grandchildren. If you didn’t find him on one of his tractors or in his garden, you would see him sitting on a bench with his cats.

Werner’s kind spirit was evident whenever you were around him. You would often find him sharing his vegetables with friends and family. He loved talking with others about his tractors and the accomplishment of his children and grandchildren, which he was so proud of.

Werner is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son and daughter in law: Mark and Tami Oeser and daughter and son in law: Donna and Jeff Damon all of Brenham; grandchildren Hannah Damon, Aiden Oeser, Lance Oeser, Mark Shapiro, and Ethan Shapiro; sister, Stella Cherry of Georgetown; and sister-in-law Grace Maresh of Bellville. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

He is preceded by his parents, sister-in-law: Janice Maresh, brothers-in-law: David Maresh and William Cherry.

Pallbearers will be John Shedd, Aaron Maresh, Justin Maresh, Blake Shedd, John Debura and Alfred Hall.

Honorary Pallbearers include Aiden Oeser, Lance Oeser, Clif Hine, Leon Gorney and Leroy Brending.
