Wilbert G. Knebel, 81, of Brenham, died Dec. 13, 2007, at Navasota Nursing and Rehab in Navasota. Mr. Knebel was born July 15, 1926, in Burton, Texas, to Emil and Marie Jahnz Knebel. He was a graduate of La Grange High School, Blinn College and Sam Houston State University. On October 26, 1965, he was married to Lovie Rutland in Houston. Mr. Knebel was a building superintendent for Cravens Dargen Insurance Co. and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Elton E. and Aline Knebel of Burton; sister and brother-in-law, Ora Nell and William Kuretsch of Brenham; a stepson, Alton Wayne Chaffee of Houston, and numerous nieces and nieces. Mr. Knebel was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Lovie Knebel, in 2002. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham with Pastors Mike Button and Walt Schindehette officiating. The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble. Mr. Knebel s nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church of Brenham or your favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
