Funeral services for Wilburn W. Neutzler of Brenham, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, with Pastor Rich Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the La Bahia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Neutzler passed away in Brenham on July 12, 2014, at the age of 83. Wilburn Neutzler was born October 28, 1930 in Burton to Otto J. and Hedwig Krause Neutzler. He was baptized April 19, 1931 by Pastor Carl Ziehe, and confirmed November 12, 1944 by Pastor Roy Grote. A 1948 graduate of Burton High School, Wilburn served the area as a barber for 55 years. Memberships included the VFW, American Legion, Sons of Herman, and the La Bahia Turn Verein. He was a devoted member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine until his death, and was especially proud to be a veteran of the armed forces, having served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. Wilburn loved to play card games, especially Skat and Pitch. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as gambling trips to Louisiana. An avid Astro fan, he enjoyed watching baseball and area sporting events. Survivors include his brother Elmer Neutzler, and a sister-in-law, Erna Mae Neutzler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters, two nephews, and two nieces. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers, and all nieces and nephews will be considered honorary pallbearers.
