William A. Harris, 73, of Brenham, died, June 21, 2004, in Houston. Mr. Harris was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Newton, Kansas, to Harold R. and Ethel Dorhman Harris. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and earned a degree in agricultural engineering from Kansas State. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force in Germany. On Dec. 5, 1969, he was married to Mary Lynn Flavin in Lenexa, Kansas. Mr. Harris was a Rotarian and a life member of both the NRA and Texas Rifle Association. He also served as president of the Bluebonnet Opry. Mr. Harris was retired from Uncle Ben s, a division of Mars Inc., where he was a purchasing manager. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Harris of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Rick Knight of St. Peter, Missouri and Loretta and Rob Kopp of Como, Mississippi; granddaughters, Sterling Knight and Lili Whalen; great-granddaughter, Julie; and brother, Robert Lee Harris of Panama City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ethel Harris; and brother, Everett Dale Harris. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10 in the fellowship hall of Brenham Presbyterian Church, 900 S. Jackson St., in Brenham with Dr. Malcolm McIver officiating. Memorials may be given to Brenham Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
