William “Bill” Burt Manning

1927-2019

Bill Manning passed away Thursday, March 8, 2019 in Brenham, Texas of natural causes. Son of Ella Laura (Niemann) and Wilburt “Preacher” Manning, he was born November 3, 1927 in Moulton, Texas.

Bill married Joan Clark Manning (deceased) in 1956. He leaves his son Jeffrey Lynn Manning, Sr., Jeff’s wife Susan Ogden Manning, his grandsons Jeffrey Lynn Manning, Jr. wife Sydney Adger Manning, and David Clark Manning, wife Ana Wiles Manning. Bill leaves two great granddaughters, Tyler and Marlow Manning, children of Jeffrey Manning, Jr. Bill also leaves his sister Dorothy Manning (Pietsch), nieces LaRae Hildebrandt, (daughter of Bette), Cathy Bruno (daughter of Dorothy), Tina Barton and Liz Manning (daughters of James). Bill’s nephews are Dale Manning (son of James), Greg Manning, (son of Dorothy) and Stephen Hildebrandt (son of Betty).

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joan, his son Donald Burt Manning, his sister Betty Manning (Stiborik) and his brother James Manning.

Bill Manning will be remembered for his service and dedication to his community. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII. Bill graduated from Blinn College, member of the Charolais Association, founding member of the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Chappell Hill and Moulton Masonic lodges, member of the Shriners International and accommodation by the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce.

Memorial service will be held at the Chappell Hill United Methodist Church Friday, March 15 at 1:00, 5195 Church St., Chappell Hill, Texas, 77426. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chappell Hill United Methodist Church.
