William McAdams

William Vernon McAdams, Jr. was born on January 3, 1930, on the family farm in Walker County, Texas. Bill went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 4, 2023. His parents were W.V. McAdams Sr. and Annie Cureton McAdams. His sisters were Anita Glynn Taylor and Virginia Ann McAdams. On December 23, 1955, he married Bonnie Faye Niemeyer of Brenham, Texas.

Bill is survived by his son, Michael McAdams, and daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Allan Michalak. Bill is also survived by four grandchildren, Rachel Joy, Ryan McAdams, Brent Michalak and Chase Michalak, and eight great grandchildren: Reese Michalak, Lane Michalak, Ivan Michalak, Addison Joy, Benjamin Joy, Everett Joy, Annie Joy and Riley McAdams. He is also survived by four nephews and nieces: Paul Taylor, Pam Wehmeyer, Kevin Niemeyer and Melissa Wolf, and his cousins, Mary Frances Payne, Charles Cole and Cindy Moser. The family offers a special thank you to the staff at Silver Sage Assisted Living, Brazos Valley Hospice, and the many caretakers who made his last days more comfortable.

Mr. McAdams graduated from Bedias High School and worked his way through university earning his BBA in Accounting at Sam Houston State University, graduating at the young age of 20. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. When he returned home, he earned his Master of Education from Sam Houston State University.

After moving to Brenham and being employed by Brenham Independent School District, he met and married Bonnie Faye Niemeyer. Mr. McAdams started his career as a teacher, becoming principal of the elementary school, principal of the junior high school and finally, principal of Brenham High School. He held that position for seven years, then transitioned to becoming the Director of Personnel at Brenham State School, staffing the newly built facility. He remained in this position while also serving as regional director for Adult Basic Education.

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Brenham. He was a very giving and sacrificial man of faith and steadily grew in his faith over his lifetime. Bill was also a member of the Lions Club and other charitable organizations in Brenham.

The service for William V. McAdams will be at 304 N. Market St. location of the First Baptist Church in Brenham at 2:00 PM, November 8, 2023, followed by internment at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, TX.
